I spent a lot of time researching different non-profit groups that were against deforestation specifically in the Amazon where it is most known and most prevalent. When it came to doing research for this blog on non-profits that were in favor of deforestation it was particularly hard and I actually ended up not finding any non-profits but more big companies or organizations. When it comes to deforestation the main reasons that it is taking place is for oil, the most major being palm oil, logging, urbanization, agriculture, and the creation of paper. While there are many many reasons deforestation is occurring these are the main few. But if you really look deep into these people that are aiding in the destruction of forests and rainforests the majority are major companies. It is a huge circle of business that is never ending. It first starts with the people that are financing these deforestation projects, the big money type groups who are mostly investment bankers, investment managers, or retail investors, some examples of this are JPMorgan Chase, Blackrock, and HSBC. Then there are those who are doing major trading such as livestock and beef traders and agriculture traders who work in soy, or palm oil. Lastly this product is turned around and shipped out to the retailers where consumers like ourselves buy the products of extreme devastation at places like Walmart and Costco. The main point I’m making by saying that I was making by saying that the main fact that no non-profit that wants to aid in the destruction of forests exists because in no way shape or form is this beneficial to anybody unless it is the people in big money who could care less about what it is doing to the environment, as long as they get paid. There is absolutely no benefit whatsoever to the environment by clearing out millions of acres of forest every year, and the only groups that would ever want deforestation are most definitely not nonprofits.
