The non-profit organization that I choose is Amazon Watch. They work to protect the rights of the indigenous people to the Amazon and help protect their lands. They partner with indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability, and the preservation of the Amazon’s ecological systems. Their three main goals are to stop the destruction of the Amazon Forests, advance indigenous solutions, and support climate justice. On their website, they have uploaded all their tax information such as returns and deductibles in order to provide the public with accurate information on where their money goes is one decides they want to donate. They allow and ask for donations on the site but also provide many other outlets for people to help and get involved that do not involve only giving money as an option for support, such as campaigning, rallies, and planting trees. This organization can be proven by the government to be a non-profit therefore making them an incredibly reliable source of information on how people around the world can help stop deforestation, especially in the Amazon and protect the lands of those humans and animals, who have lived there for hundreds and some thousands of years. They have a blog as well as many campaigns that work to inform the public and stop what the government is doing to the environment. There are a number of emotional appeals due to the fact that many people and animals indigenous to those lands are losing their homes and families but all emotion is backed up with credible information on the government explaining why this is so devastating to the environment.Β (273)
